Nepal caretaker Prime Minister in Delhi
New Delhi, Aug 4 : The caretaker Prime Minister of Nepal, Girija Prasad Koirala today met Congress President Sonia Gandhi and External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukerjee here.
Koirala is transiting through New Delhi to Nepal after attending the 15th SAARC Summit in Colombo.
The leaders discussed bilateral ties and issues of mutual interest during their meeting.
Leader of opposition L.K. Advani also met Koirala separately.
Amidst political wrangling in Nepal over the formation of new government, India has assured the Nepal Prime Minister of continued support to the Himalayan state's democratic transition.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has also held bilateral talks with his Nepalese counterpart in Colombo on Sunday on the sidelines of the SAARC Summit.
Koirala briefed Dr. Singh on the internal situation in his country. In response, Dr. Singh said that India wants stability and democracy in Nepal and adding that 'New Delhi is impressed by Kathmandu''s democratic transition so far including the conduct of the elections.'
"I am trying to work for a new consensual alliance. The new government should reflect a national character and unity," Koirala told reporters in Colombo.
