Nathpa Jhakri achieves record power generation

Shimla, Aug 4 (UNI) Country's largest 1500 Mega Watt Nathpa Jhakari Hydro Power Station of Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVNL) has achieved a new milestone in monthly generation of power since its commissioning on Oct 2003.

Breaking all the previous monthly records, the power station generated 1090.525 Million Unit (MU) energy during July this year, SJVNL Deputy General Manger VK Verma said.

He said that generation achieved during July last year was 1078 MU.

During the four months period from April to July 2008 the power station has generated 3106 MU units of electricity.
