UP: 2 animal thieves killed; many injured

Jaunpur, Aug 4: Two people were killed and as many sustained serous injuries after a mini truck rammed into a road side tree in Chandwak area here early morning today.

It was found that the deceased were active members of an animal thief gang and they had stolen some livestock late last night. As they were heading towards the city to sell them the accident occurred near Devlaspur village, police said.

Chedi (19) and Bablu (32) died on the spot, while Amit and Sukkul received serious injuries. The injured were admitted to hospital, they said.

The gang used to lift animals at night and later sell them in another district.
