11 held for arson after murder
Bilaspur, Aug 4 (UNI) Police arrested 11 people after about 100 people indulged in arson, rioting and road blockade at Khairjhiti village near Marwahi in this district demanding arrest of those involved in a murder case.
Madhya Pradesh's Venkatnagar resident Tulsi Prasad Gupta was murdered at Khairjhiti village on the night of July 28 following land dispute. Police had not arrested those named accused, the villagers alleged and staged demonstration.
The demonstrators set ablaze the tractor and house of a suspected accused Pawan Singh alias Tahsildar. His wife and daughter-in-law were injured in the attack.
The situation in the village was under control, police said.
Inspector General of Police Rajiv Shrivastava ordered suspension of Marwahi police station incharge G P Shrivas for laxity in duty.
