NGO drive to spread awareness on RTI in Bengal
Barrackpore, Aug 3 (UNI) A district-based NGO Bhavishya Educational and Charitable Society is all set to launch at least four information kiosks here followed by telephone ''help lines'' for spreading awareness on Right to Information (RTI).
This was informed here today by Bhavishya secretary Parvej Ahmed Khan during the NGO's advisory committee meeting at Bhatpara municipality area in North 24 Parganas.
The Rs 7.3 lakh-project is funded by DFID for Kolkata Urban Services for the Poor (KUSP) program, which will be implemented in a year.
The programme would involve holding several group and community interaction, government-citizen interface and audio-visual publicity to enlighten the people about the RTI and its utility towards betterment of the society.
The municipal affairs department of the state government had also decided to implement such project for better governance in the urban areas, said Bhavishya president and a former Headmaster of Kendriya Vidyalaya Priti Ranjan Roy.
