Make available pesticides or licences will be cancelled

Srinagar, Aug 3 (UNI) The Agriculture Department of Kashmir has threatened to cancel licenses of all those pesticide dealers who donot keep the prescribed pesticides available at their sale outlets.

An official spokesman said all pesticide dealers of the Kashmir valley have been instructed to keep available the prescribed pesticides for control of paddy blast.

The law enforcement officers have been directed to ensure availability of the prescribed pesticides at all sale outlets by inspecting pesticides retail shops constantly.

It has been said that licenses of those pesticide dealers would be cancelled who do not keep the prescribed pesticides available at their sales outlets.

The agriculture department has advised farmers to strictly adhere to the spray schedule advertised through print and electronic media, to check paddy blast.

Farmers have also been asked to immediately inform nearest Junior Agriculture Assistant or Agriculture Extension Officer in case of any incidence of paddy blast so that timely action can be taken to control it.

Recently Kissan Tehreek has alleged that paddy was damaged in a number of villages in south Kashmir.

It demanded immediate introduction of crops insurance in the state.
