TDP demands stepping up of security for Naidu, other TDP leaders
Hyderabad, Aug 2 (UNI) The main opposiiton Telugu Desam Party today called on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and demanded stepping up security for Leader of Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu and other TDP leaders as they were in the hit list of naxalites.
Submitting a memorandum, a delegation of TDP leaders led by Mr E Dayakar Rao, MP,pressed for a Z-plus security for Mr Naidu, who had escaped an attempt on his life while he was the state Chief Minister.
With the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections scheduled for early next year, their leader was facing more security threat, they said, adding that other TDP leaders in the party including Mr Rao and TDP Legislature Party leader N Janardhan Reddy, were also facing increasing threat to their lives.
The Chief Minister gave a patient hearing and assured the TDP leaders to direct senior police officials to look into the matter.
