Students clash in Jamshedpur college, several injured

Jamshedpur, Aug 2 (UNI) A group of students today went on the rampage in a college situated in a posh locality here, damaging half a dozen cars and breaking window panes and benches of the main building.

Police said violence broke out when a group of students from Jharkhand Chhatra Morcha (JCN) objected to the conducting of membership drive by the student wing of the ruling Congress NSUI at the main entrance of Cooperative College in the Circuit house area.

Several students from both sides were injured.

Two complaints, including one under prevention of SC/ST atrocities act, were filed at the Bistupur police station. Heavy deployment of police force was made in the college premises.

No arrest has been made so far.
