Cong-SP behind distribution of fake CDs: BJP
New Delhi, Aug 2 (UNI) The BJP today charged that the Congress-SP combine was behind the distribution of 'fake' CD to the media to 'defame' BJP and divert attention from the original sting operation showing bribe being offered to the three BJP MPs before July 22 confidence vote which was now under custody of the Parliamentary Committee probing the matter.
The 'fake' CD was allegedly showing a man entering the house of BJP general Secretary Arun Jaitley and coming out with a bag carrying currency, which was offered to the MPs in order to malign the UPA ahead of the confidence vote.
"The attempt to defame BJP by the dirty trick department of Congress-SP unholy alliance has failed miserably. Everybody suspects that the ill-conceived fake CD seems to be the handiwork of this department, where the director is Congress, producer is Amar Singh and distributor is Uma Bharti," BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar told newspersons here.
Seeking a thorough inquiry into the matter, he said BJP was confident that in this battle truth would emerge victorious and the nepherious designs of Congress-SP exposed.
He said Mr Amar Singh himself had accepted in an interview to a national fortnightly about his role in "luring away MPs" from various parties when he stated that "I don't break parties. They will start melting when I am around. I will gather them and put them in a pot. I will get MPs, more than I have claimed." The people of this country knew how far the Congress-SP could go to "hide their sin and their monstrous act of destroying democracy by manipulating the victory," he said.
On the 'fake' CD issue, Mr Javadekar said it was shot only after July 22, a fact even admitted by the distributor of the CD, former Madhya Pradesh chief minister and Bharatiya Janshakti party supremo Uma Bharati when she said in Jammu that she was not aware when the sting operation was conducted it could be July 23, 24 or 25.
