BJP deplores Govt indifference to Jammu violence
New Delhi, Aug 2 (UNI) The BJP today deplored the Government's insensitivity towards violence in Jammu that followed the cancellation of land allotted to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board for setting up camps for pilgrims.
Scores of people were getting killed in the violence which was perpetuating for the past one month and the government was totally insensitiive towards it, senior BJP leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra charged.
He regretted that the Government had surrendered to the separatists and pro-Pakistani elements.
Demanding immediate restoration of land to the Shrine to bring in normalcy in the state, he said the UPA Government's silence over the violence and the issue was further contributing to the disturbed situation in Jammu.
Earlier, the party warned the Jammu and Kashmir Government and the Centre against use of force to quell the sentiments of the people who were enraged over the manner in which the land order was revoked.
''The bullet would not be able to quell the agitation. The Government would have to come to the negotiating table and the land would have to be returned to the Shrine Board,'' the party asserted.
