Awarness rally to preserve Telugu language, culture
Machilipatnam, Aug 2 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Animal Husbandary Minister Mandali Buddha Prasad inaugurated a 'Chaitanya Yatra' ('awareness rally') aimed at upholding and preserving Telugu language and culture here today.
The rally started from Machilipatnam and will end on Aug 5 at Nellore. It will also observe the birth centennary of freedom fighter and former state Chief Minister Bezawada Gopala Reddy.
Many writers, poets and litereteurs will take part in the rally and address meetings organised at villeges and outskirts of the cities to explain the greatness of Telugu language, literature, and culture.
Convenor of the centennary celebrations committee V Lakshmi Prasad said fomer Karnataka Governor V S Ramadevi, Chief Justice of Guwahati High Court Justice Chalaneswar, Janpeeth awardee C Narayana Reddy, Union minister Daggubati Purandeswari and others would also participate in the meetings.
Andhra Pradesh Governor Narayan Dutt Tiwari, union minister Panabaka Lakshmi, state ministers and BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu would also paticipate in a function organised on the concluding day of the Yatra at Nellore.
