Assault case against Mayor Lakhan Lal Dewangan
Korba, Aug 2: Police registered case against Korba Mayor Lakhan Lal Dewangan and his two associates for assaulting and threatening the life of an advocate and few others.
Advocate Rohit Rajwade and 50 others of Budhwari ward reached the municipal office on Thursday July 31 to submit a memorandum regarding civic problems. During discussions, they had an altercation with the Mayor and Corporators Munna Khan and Tulsi Thakur, who assaulted the advocate and his supporters.
However, on the complaint of a municipal employee Bhavesh Yadav, police registered cases against Rohit Rajwade and his followers.
When Mr Rajwade approached the police to register a complaint about assault and abuse, his complaint was not entertained. Later, when a large number of lawyers gheraoed the police station, his complaint was registered against the Mayor and two others.
Congress has threatened to launch an agitation if police failed to take action against the ruling BJP-supported Mayor.
