Transasia announces all India launch of Erba Den-Go to detect dengue

Mumbai, Aug 1 (ANI/Business Wire India): To provide a user-friendly and rapid diagnostic method for detection of dengue infection, Transasia Bio-Medicals Ltd has launched its brand new product, Erba Den-GO (CE marked) this shower season.

The key advantages of this new test are that it is a 15-minute procedure. The test allows presumptive differentiation between primary and secondary dengue with an overall accuracy of 99.3 per cent.

This rapid test is designed to simultaneously detect and differentiate IgG and IgM antibodies to dengue virus in human serum, plasma or whole blood and comes in packing of 15 tests per box.

CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) has categorized this disease as 'Infectious' and Dengue is recorded to infect 50-100 million people every year. The virus is known to cause 3 manifestations namely Dengue fever, Dengue hemorrhagic fever and Dengue shock syndrome, leading to death in 5 per cent of the infected cases.

Dengue is caused by a Flavivirus (type of arbovirus). Known vectors of transmission are mainly mosquitoes (Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus). There are 4 known distinct serotypes (dengue virus 1, 2, 3 and 4)

Dengue is considered to be the most important arthropod-borne viral disease due to the human morbidity and mortality it causes.

Symptoms of Dengue:

GRADE I: Fever with other symptoms such as vomiting, headache, muscle and joint pain, skin rash: positive tourniquet test is the only evidence of hemorrhaging

GRADE II: Grade I symptoms + spontaneous bleeding

GRADE III: Failure of circulatory system, clammy skin, rapid and weak pulse, restlessness

GRADE IV: Severe shock, no measurable blood pressure or pulse.
