Strengthen state police for fighting terrorism: Badal

Amritsar, Aug 1 (UNI) Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal today called for upgrading the police machinery in the states o combat terrorism.

The Chief Minister in an informal chat with mediapersons here did not approve of suggestions being floated by certain Union Ministers that a special central agency was needed to counter terrorism.

" The Centre should provide funds to states for upgrading and modernising their respective security setups to take on the terrorists", he added.

In this respect he also refered to modernising the intelligence gathering system in states, which could only be done with modern gadgets for which funds should be made avaliable.
