Silver rises, gold eases in opening session

Mumbai, Aug 1: A mixed trend was seen in the precious metals on Friday, Aug 1 as silver increased by Rs 75 per kg on good demand from ornament makers, while gold slightly declined by Rs 35 per ten gm from its previous close, on lack of fresh demand from industrial users, traders at the Bombay Bullion Association said.

Though a mixed trend was seen in the domestic market, in the international market a negative sentiment was witnessed as gold slipped to USD 911.90/912.90 an ounce from USD 913.45/914.65 an ounce, while silver also edged down to USD 17.67/17.75 an ounce from USD 17.71/17.77 late in New York.

Gold fell today due to fall in US dollar, traders informed.

Following were the opening domestic spot rates: Silver (per kg) 999 fineness grade: Rs 24,960 Gold (per 10 gm): 99.5 purity standard mint: Rs 12,515 99.9 purity pure gold: Rs 12,575.
