President congratulates Magsaysay award winner Prakash Amte

New Delhi, Aug 1 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil today congratulated Dr Prakash Amte and his wife, Dr Mandakini Amte, on winning the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award.

In a message to the couple, the President said she was ''delighted'' by the couple winning the award.

''Service of the underprivileged is service to God. Your courage to go to an area where very few dared to go has earned love and respect of the people whom you have served. Your philanthropic contribution towards the medical care of the tribals and their education is an inspiration for others,'' Ms Patil said.
