Patent office gets 1,000 electronic applications
New Delhi, Aug 1 (UNI) Indian patent office received 1,000 applications electronically in a year after it launched the online facility for filing of patent and trade marks applications on July 20, 2007.
The office earned a revenue of Rs 2.54 crore through online payment gateway, Commerce ministry, which launched the facility, said today.
However, e-filing has yet to pick up momentum as 1,000 applications constitutes just about three per cent of total applications filed during the period, the ministry added.
It said applicants can now also submit electronic files for new trade mark registry (TMR) and TMR search.
The ministry said facility for filing other intellectual property applications electronically will be created soon.
The Mumbai-based TMR receives and processes applications for the registration, renewal or cancellation of trademarks and other related functions.
