Pale assembly ticket for Congress candidate only: GPCC
Panaji, Aug 1 (UNI) Goa Pradesh Congress Comittee (GPCC) today reiterated its resolve to field its own ''loyal worker'' for the by-elections to Pale assembly seat, which fell vacant following the demise of incumbant Congress member Gurudas Gawas last month.
The GPCC executive, which met today at the Congress House here, maintained that the seat belonged to the Congress and it should go to the party nominee only, not others as claimed by the coalition partner, NCP, recently.
Briefing mediapersons on the outcome of the meet, party president Francisco Sardinha said the party had also resolved to congratulate Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for winning the crucial vote of confidence in Parliament recently.
The country, he said, needed adequate nuclear power to tide over power shortage and it could be achieved through operationalisation of the Indo-US nuclear deal at the earliest.
