Man remanded in police custody for sending threatening e-mail

Mumbai, Aug 1 (UNI) A local court today remanded an accountant from Ludhiana, accused of allegedly sending a threatening e-mail following last week's serial blasts in Ahmedabad, in police custody till August 7.

While seeking his police custody, crime branch officials told the court that the accountant, Deepak Pandey, was nabbed by Mumbai's Crime Branch officials for his involvement in sending an e-mail to a news channel, wherein he had threatened more blasts.

The court was told that the e-mail was traced to Ludhiana in Punjab, from where he was arrested and now police want to know whether the e-mail was a prank or not, which requires a detailed custodial probe.

Pandey was brought to the city today and produced under heavy police protection before the additional chief metropolitan court here.
