Srinagar, Aug 1 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Committee of CPI(M) today expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of Harkrishan Singh Surjeet.

A condolence meeting held here was presided over by the State Secretary of the CPI(M) M Y Tarigami to pay homage to veteran communist leader.

The State Committee of CPI(M) recorded with profound grief the passing of comrade Harkishan Singh Surjeet, veteran leader of the CPI(M), an outstanding figure and prominent national politician.

In his death, the party has lost an outstanding leader and country an authoritative representative of the Left and secular tradition, Mr Targami said.

The entire Party will cherish and uphold the ideology and principles for which Mr Surjeet dedicated his life.

State Committee pays respectful homage to this outstanding and beloved leader and conveys its heartfelt condolences to his wife Pritam Kaur, sons, daughter, grandchildren and other family members.
