Indian Mujahideen a " hoax organisation " : Imam

Kolkata, Aug 1 (UNI) Shahi Imam of Bengal S M Noorur Rahman Barkati today called upon people to fight unitedly against terrorism.

'' The Indian Mujahideen, who were solely responsible for the serial blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad in which scores of innocent people were killed, is a '' hoax organisation'' and it's the duty of the Centre to identify the outfit and take strongest action against these merchants of death and destruction,'' the Imam, also the chairman of All India Majlis-E-Shoora, told newspersons here.

'' We are strongly condemning the blasts and feel that under no circumstances or situations these heinous, coward and inhuman acts of madness be justified. It would hardly serve any purpose apart from killing unarmed innocent people,'' he said.

Terming the Indian Mujahideen as a '' hoax organisation,'' he said the terrorists have no religion or caste and their only duty was to kill innocent people.

'' We ask all the Indians to be united in this juncture and fight unitedly against terrorism,'' he added.

'' We have already sent letters to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi seeking their immediate intervention in ousting the terrorists from the country,'' the Imam said.
