Cop probing murder case goes missing
Kodagu, Aug 1: A sub-inspector, investigating the murder case of a young maid at Goa, has been reported missing. Police said they found Sub-Inspector Gopalakrishna, accused of accepting bribe from Hamsa who allegedly murdered Shafiya at Goa, missing when they raided his house here on Thursday July 31.
The move to arrest the sub-inspector was taken as 'Shafiya Murder Case Action Committee' held a three-hour protest here yesterday demanding Gopalakrishna's arrest for 'twisting the case for bribe.' The action committee raised Rs 50,000 and handed it over to Shafiya's parents who were financially weak.
Hamsa, a PWD employee in Goa, allegedly butchered Shafiya (14) with the help of three others, including his wife. All the four had been arrested.
