BJP demands high-level probe into train fire

Vijayawara, Aug 1 (UNI) Andhra Pradedh unit BJP President Bandaru Dattatreya today demanded Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav to order a high-level probe into the fire in the Gautami Express train.

Addressing a press conference here, he said he was in the train, when the fire engulfed its five coaches. After the train came to a halt, he alighted the train and examined all the coaches in which he found many bodies in one coach.

He said though the Railway officials were present at the spot informed him that the fire was due to a short-circuit, it could be some other reason too.

Meanwhile, Mr Dattatreya demanded the Congress-ruled State Government to come out with a white paper on the supply of fertilisers to farmers.

He said as the District Collectors were saying that the sufficient quota of fertilisers was not provided. The BJP demanded that the Rajasekhara Reddy Government should announce when the quota of the fertilisers would be released.

He said the State Government should ensure that the fertilisers were handed over to the farmers through Agricultural Cooperative Societies as the seeds and fertilisers were being purchased by fermers in black market.
