2 yrs' imprisonment for demanding bribe
Barwani, MP, Aug 1 (UNI) A special court here has sentenced a sub-engineer to two years' imprisonment and fined him Rs 10,000 in connection with a bribery case.
According to prosecution, Ashish Mittal, who was posted as sub-engineer at Pansemal Nagar Panchayat, had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 from contractor Gyaneshwar Lad for government work.
On his complaint, the Lokayukt police had caught Ashish red-handed while accepting bribe on June 17, 2005.
Judge D K Goyal delivered the verdict under the Prevention of Corruption Act yesterday.
