Record tree plantation drive in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, July 31, 2008 : Residents of Raipur, Chhattisgarh attempted to create a record by planting over 9 million trees in seven hours. Organized by the state government and the leading private sector companies the drive got a positive response.

Chief Minister Raman Singh inaugurated the drive by planting the first tree. In order to make the drive a success the state government had started its publicity 15 days in advance.
