Two CPI(Maoist) commanders surrender in Vizag

Visakhapatnam, Jul 31 (UNI) Two senior Commanders of the CPI (Maoist) belonging to the Korukonda Dalam of East Division.

surrendered today at the G K Veedhi Police Station.

District Superintendent of Police Akun Sabharwal said the Maoists, K Gantanna alias Anil (30) and his wife Desagiri Ganga alias Jhansi (25), both educated up to junior college level, had joined the banned outfit in 2000 and had participated in seven exchanges of fire, six blasts and as many attacks on various police stations in their area of operation.

However, vexed with the Maoist ideology and due to ill-health, they surrendered, police said.

They would be sent to their respective villages and all measures would be taken for their rehabilitation and financial support, the DSP said.

Asked about combing operations, he said they were on in a much different way.
