Rs 600 cr spent for UPA Govt's survival: Naqvi
Kolhapur, Jul 31 (UNI) BJP national spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today alleged that power brokers had spent Rs 600 crore for the survival of the UPA Government in the July 22 Trust Vote.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Naqvi claimed that after the Congress-led UPA Government won the Confidence Motion in the Lok Sabha, ''these brokers were busy recovering the spent amount.'' Referring to the recent bomb blasts in Ahmedabad and Bangalore, the BJP leader alleged that terrorist activities had increased after the UPA Government won the Trust Vote.
Condemning the blasts, Mr Naqvi stressed on the re-introduction of a law like Prevention of Terrorist Activities (POTA) to counter their activities.
Asked about senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj's statement wherein she had charged that the blasts were a conspiracy to divert the attention from cash for votes scam, Mr Naqvi said it was her personal opinion.
Replying to another query about the Third Front projecting Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati as the prime ministerial candidate, he said the so-called Third Front will not come into effect till the Lok Sabha elections. The NDA always opposed Ms Mayawati as a prime ministerial candidate, he added.
