Durga temple to close during solar eclipse

Vijayawada, Jul 31: Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Devasthanam, atop Indrakeeladri hill here will be closed from Friday, August 1 morning in view of solar eclipse.

Devasthanam official said the temple would be closed from 8 am on Friday to Saturday. The temple doors would be opened at 3 pm and after urfication of goddess Kanakadurga, the pilgrim would be allowed for darshan from 7 am on Saturday August 2. The Brahmarambika Mallikarjuna Swamyvari Devasthanam at Srisailam, Sitaramachandra swamy temple at Bhadrachalam and Satyanarayana Swamy temple at Annavaram would be closed from tomorrow morning and the devotees would be allowed darshan after consecrating the idols.

The solar eclipse commencing from 1626 hrs on August one would end at 6 pm, the official added. Meanwhile, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) sources said the doors of Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala would be shut from 10 am to 6 pm on Friday in view of the eclipse. The Saryadarshanam would be resumed at 2 pm on the same day after punyavachanam (purification of rituals), th sources said.
