DGP Himachal Ashwini Kumar is the new CBI Director

New Delhi, Jul 31 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Director General of Police Ashwini Kumar has been named the next Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Mr Kumar is an IPS officer of 1973 batch. He will take the charge tomorrow and will hold the position for the next two years, a spokesman of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions said.

He will replace outgoing chief Mr Vijay Shanker who retires today.
