Composite index of metals, energy up

Mumbai, Jul 31 (UNI) The composite index of metals and energy was up by 0.47 pc to 2970.79 points in the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) today.

Metals were up by 0.59 pc and energy by 0.46 pc.

Bullion contracts recovered today. Gold February 09 contract gained by 1.40 pc to Rs 12,815 per 10 grams. Silver March 09 was up by 2.54 pc to Rs 25,050 per kg while silver April 09 contract was up by 2.01 pc to Rs 25,177 per kg. Platinum September 08 contract gained at Rs 24,500 per 10 grams, up by 1.43 pc.

All metal contracts rose including aluminum September 08 contract which was up by 1.12 pc to Rs 126.90 per kg, copper August 08 contract by 0.23 pc to Rs 2343.15 per kg, lead July 08 contract by 1.28 pc to Rs 95.05 per kg, nickel July 08 contract was up by 0.57 pc to Rs 791.30 per kg and zinc July 08 contract was up by 2.77 pc to Rs 81.50 per kg.

Crude oil October 08 contract was up by 0.97 pc to Rs 5426 per barrel.

Agriculture contracts too followed the upward trend. Cardamom October 08 contract was up by 0.40 pc to Rs 622 per kg. Jute August 08 contract was up by 1.13 pc to Rs 1615.50 per quintal.

Coriander September 08 contract was up by 3.19 pc to Rs 10,278 per quintal, MCX release stated.
