Two arrested in murder case

Perambalur, July 30 (UNI) Police has arrested two persons in connection with the murder of P Chandran, who was shot dead at Kolakanatham, near here, on July 19.

Police said the incident occurred when the victim was sleeping at his father-in-law's house.

A neighbouring house belonging to Mohammed Sulaiman was also set on fire by the miscreants before they leaving the place in motorcycles.

Police said it was a case of mistaken identity and the miscreants had actually planned to kill the victim's father-in-law, M Duraisamy, over a dispute between Duraisamy and his another son-in-law Rengasamy.

It was alleged that Revathy, wife of Rengasamy, had an illicit relationship with Jakapriya, son of Mohammed Sulaiman, even before her marriage.

However, Duraisamy had covered up these things from Rengasamy before the marriage, police said.

On the fateful night, Rengasamy along with his accomplice, Ganesan of Kannapadi village, had arrived the house with the intention of killing Duraisamy.

On seeing a person sleeping at the cow-shed, they had shot, police said.

The arrested were remanded to judicial custody, police said.
