SP to join hands with Trinamool in fighting Left in Bengal
Kolkata, Jul 30 (UNI) Pledging to fight the CPI (M) on its own turf in West Bengal, Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh today said his party would join hands with the Trinamool Congress in the movement against the Left Front Government.
Mr Singh, who met Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee at her residence, also hit out at the CPI(M) and described it as a party devoid of morality.
'' There will be a joint fight in West Bengal against the CPI(M).
The Samajwadi Party is with the Trinamool Congress in the latter's fight against the CPI(M) on Singur and Nandigram issues, '' he told a press conference.
Mr Singh said the Samajwadi Party representative would remain present in the Trinamool's agitation in Singur on August 20 if he himself failed to be present there, but assured that he would be personally present in the Trinamool's rally against the retail price on September one.
SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav would also attend the rally, he informed.
'' I have not come here to meet Ms Banerjee as a Congress representative but I have a relation with for so long. The SP will share platform jointly with the Trinamool for the anti-Left movement in the state, '' Mr Singh said.
He said the SP would rally behind Ms Banerjee's movment against the CPI (M).
Later, Mr Singh said Ms Banerjee had asked him to convey her demands, including the return of land to the unwilling farmers, scrapping of the SEZ and Land Acquisition Act, besides prevention of corporate sectors's entry into the retail markets, to UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
