Sikh devotees pay obeisance to Jagriti Yatra

Hyderabad, July 30 (UNI) Thousands of Sikh devotees today paid obeisance to the Guru Manyo Granth Jagriti Yatra, an all-India journey to commemorate the 300 years of the installation of Sri Guru Granth Sahibji and Parlokgaman (heavenly abode) of tenth Sikh Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh.

The procession, carrying the hand-written Sikh holy book Guru Granth Sahibji and rare weapons of Guru Gobind Singh, started from Gurudwara Guru Singh Sabha, Ashok Bazaar, to NTR Stadium in Indira Park.

Led by police horses, the colourful procession included Kirtani Jathas and Gatka (Sikh martial form) performers.

Today evening, a Vishaal Deewan would be organised at the NTR Stadium, in which reputed Ragi Jathas would recite Shabad Keertans.

Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy would be the chief guest for the function, to be attended by several State Ministers. Later in the night, there would be display of fireworks.
