Lok Adalats disposes 365 cases in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jul 30 (UNI) As many as 365 cases were settled during two Lok Adalats held in the Kashmir valley today, official spokesman said.

He said a Lok Adalat held in court complex of Saddar Court here took 738 cases today.

Out of these 359 cases were amicably settled by the five benches constituted under the supervision of Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar.

A fine of over Rs 1.55 lakh was realised from criminal cases and compensation of Rs 41.35 lakh awarded in various MACT cases.

He said six more cases were settled amicably at a Lok Adalat held under the chairmanship of Chief Judicial Magistrate Bandipora in north Kashmir.

Spokesman said District Legal Services Authority is organising Lok Adalat at court complexm Pulwama district on August 7, 2008.
