Kurukshetra all set for solar eclipse mela

Chandigarh, Jul 30 (UNI) The holy city of Kurukshetra is all decked up to receive over 10 lakh pilgrims for the holy bath on the occasion of solar eclipse on August 1.

The District Administration has made all the necessary arrangements to facilitate smooth conduct of the Solar Eclipse Mela to be organised on the occasion, an official spokesman said.

The Haryana Government has decided to provide insurance cover of Rs 1 lakh to each pilgrim visiting Kurukshetra from July 30 to morning 0800 hrs of August 2.

To facilitate easy transportation of the pilgrims to and from Kurukshetra 10 special trains will be put into service. The administration has made special arrangement for transportation of physically challenge pilgrims by pressing two special vehicles into service from Pipli to Gate Number 3 of Bhram Sarover. In addition to this 7 Bus stops including 3 permanent and 4 temporary had been established for the convenience of the pilgrims, he added.

He said that on the day of the solar eclipse all government offices, schools and colleges in Kurukshetra district would remain closed.

The spokesman said that for providing information and assistance to the pilgrims 'Swagat Kendras' had been set up at various entry points of Kurukshetra to guide and inform the pilgrims about the mela.
