Govt releases additional grants to beef up police
Bangalore, Jul 30 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has sanctioned an additional grant of Rs 25 crore to the police force in the state to purchase modern equipment, in the wake of the serial blasts in the city last week.
Announcing this in the State Assembly Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, replying to a debate on budget for 2008-09, said the amount should be spent for purchasing well equipped vehicles, firearms and ammunition.
He called upon the youth from the minority sections to condemn such anti-social activities and said there should not be any interference in the working of the police.
He said though tension prevailed in the city following the serial bomb blasts, peace prevailed after some time. However, a strict vigil was on in the city, he added.
