Bomb hoax creates panic at Kannur station
Kannur, Jul 30(UNI) Panic gripped this city of Kerala today when a call was received at the Thalassery fire station about a bomb being planted at the railway station here, which turned out to be a hoax.
A person, who identified himself as Ali Akbar, made a call to the fire station that a bomb would go off at the Kannur railway station soon.
However, on search, police found the bomb threat to be a hoax.
After the fire station officials informed the Kannur police control room, dog squad and bomb disposal squad, led by Dy SP P B Rajeev conducted a thorough search at the railway station. The squad teams also searched the Kannur-Kozhikode(622) passenger train, Thiruvanthapuram-Mangalore (Parasuram-6349) and Egmore-Mangalore (6107 Express) trains. However, no explosives were found, the sources said.
The police made a call to the mobile number from which the hoax call was made, but found it switched off, the sources added.
