Verification of weapons in Sirsa distt ordered

Sirsa, Jul 29 (UNI) In view of tension prevailing between Dera Sacha Sauda and Sikh community the district administration has ordered physical verification of all arms licences and arms/weapons in the district.

These orders were passed here today by District Magistrate Umashankar.

As per the order all the licensees have been ordered to submit their arms and licences for verification at their respective Police Stations. In case, the arms licence of anylicensee is to be deposited, receipt would be issued accordingly.

The Station House Officers (SHOs) will verify the character and antecedents of the licensees keeping in view the prevailing circumstances, besides verifying the fact whether the licensee is alive or dead. SHOs will also ensure that in case the licence had already been deposited following the death of licensee, the Deputy Commissioner will be requested to cancel the same.

It will also be ensured that during the verification, whether the weapon is actually with the licensee or is in the possession of somebody else.

All the SHOs in the district have been asked to issue certificates to the licensees after verification of their licences and arms. No new arms licence will be issued to anybody till the process of arms verification is completed in the district. The process of verification will be completed within the three next month.

The persons who have got new licences, but have not purchased arms/weapons yet, will not be allowed to purchase weapons till the completion of the arms verification process. Weapons of both prohibited bore and non-prohibited bore will be verified irrespective of the licence issuing authority.
