Union Minister calls on TN CM

Chennai, Jul 29 (UNI) Union Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed today called on DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

Emerging out of the 20 minute meeting, held at the Chief Minister's Gopalapuram residence, Mr Ahamed described it as a courtesy call.

''Whenever I come to Chennai I used to meet him. It's only a courtesy call'', he said without elaborating further.

The meeting assumes significance, as it took place a few days after Mr Karunanidhi called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and urged him to take steps to prevent killing of innocent Tamil fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy.
