Smart specs may help the blind navigate without bumps
London, July 29 : Electronics company Philips is working on a pair of spectacles that that can provide audio signals to blind people to let them known what is happening around them.
Experts associated with the project say that the specs will be fitted with a camera and accelerometers that detect movement.
With the help of a computer, the specs will spot any obstacles in the field of view, and work out which are moving.
The information will ultimately be utilised to provide audio signals to those wearing the specs to inform them about what is happening around them, and which objects are moving.
The researchers believe that such smart specs may enable blind people to navigate without bumps, reports New Scientist magazine.
