Security mounted-up for Urs in Taj Mahal
Agra, Jul 29 (UNI) In the wake of the serial blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad recently, the entry of tobacco, cigarettes and match sticks have been strictly prohibited inside the historic monument Taj Mahal for the 353rd Urs ceremony of the Mughal ruler shahjahan.
''Jayareens'' (devotees) in a large number, congregated in the city of on Taj first day of the Urs that would end on July 31.
An appeal was made to the devotees not to bring any band parties along with them, Urs committee sources said.
Besides, they would not be allowed to take back the offered ''chadars'' this time, the sources added.
Security has been escalated in Uttar Pradesh, following the recent terrorists' strikes in Bangalore and Ahmedabad.
Yesterday, panic had gripped tha city after a bomb threat, which had later turned out to be a hoax.
