Orient Paper net stands at Rs 46.11 cr for April-June qtr
New Delhi, Jul 29 (UNI) Orient Paper and Industries Ltd today said it has registered three per cent increase in net profit at Rs 46.11 crore for the quarter ended June 2008 from Rs 44.60 crore in the corresponding period a year ago.
The net sales increased 10 per cent to Rs 321.76 crore in April-June 2008 from Rs 293.07 crore in the same period last year.
Segment wise, the net sales in cement business increased 24 per cent to 211.59 cr from 170.63 crore, electrical business witnessed 28 per cent surge to Rs 76.01 crore from Rs 59.14 crore, while paper business recorded a fall of 45 per cent in net sales to Rs 34.17 crore from Rs 62.07 crore in the comparable periods.
''The sharp drop in the paper division's performance was caused by exceptional and unprecedented water scarcity lasting 46 days during the quarter,'' a company statement said.
