India to produce 20,000 MW power by 2020: Ramesh
Bokaro, Jul 29 (UNI) Minister of State for Power Jairam Ramesh today said with the signing of the Indo-US Nuke deal, the country would be able to produce about 20,000 MW of power by 2020.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Ramesh, also Union Commerce Minister, said the state possessed about 40 six per cent of total Uranium available in the country.
Referring to power plant being established at Chandrapura, he said two plants of 500 MW each were being established and one among them would be operational by February 2009.
The other one would start functioning by April next year, he added.
He said two more power plants of 250 MW capacity each would be established in Bokaro Thermal Power and one unit of 5000 MW in Koderma with an expenditure of Rs 2000 crore.
He said the state would be producing about 3700 MW in the next four years.
