High security alert in Karaikal

Puducherry, Jul 29 (UNI) The Karaikal region of the Union Territory has been put under high security alert.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the senior police officials, chaired by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Vasudeva Rao here today.

The decision was taken since the police suspected that terrorism may be propogated at a campaign being held by a particular religion in Karaikal.

High security has been provided to the Saneeswar temple and other places of worship in the region, police said.
