Eight militants lay down arms in Manipur

Imphal, Jul 29 (UNI) Eight militants of three different extremist groups laid down arms to Maj Gen, AK Choudhury, IG, Assam Rifles, South, in a function held today at Mantripukhri here.

The IG said militants had been kidnapping children and recruiting them and the people were not able to speak against it out of fear.

Now the people have started opposing the forcible recruitment of young children by insurgents, he added. The leaders of the militant outfits were enjoying outside the state while the lower rank cadres were suffering, he alleged.
