Draft electoral rolls: last date for claims extended
Chennai, Jul 29 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer today decided to extend till August eight, the last date for filing claims and objections.
CEO Naresh Gupta, in a statement here, said the draft electoral rolls for the mid-year special summary revision of rolls, necessitated by the delimitation of constituencies, were published in the state from July 16 to 24.
Earlier, 15 days time was indicated for filing claims and objections. ''However, in view of the time taken for printing, it has been decided to extend the last date till August eight'', he added.
He said as the people found it difficult to file claims and objections on the working days, it has been decided to have Special campaign days on August two (Saturday) and August three (Sunday).
The booth level officers would also be doing 100 per cent field verification by visiting every house and furnish Form 6 with 001A to those whose names were missing in the electoral rolls, he said.
