CM's gesture to Kamaraj's relative
Chennai, Jul 29 (UNI) In goodwill gesture Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today sanctioned Rs 2.5 lakh to Ms Kamaladevi, niece of Former Chief Minister K Kamaraj, after coming to know of her plight.
After reading an interview of Ms Kamaladevi, daughter of Kamaraj's sister Nagammal in a weekly magazine, Mr Karunanidhi sanctioned Rs one lakh from the Chief Minister's General Relief Fund for her immediate medical expenditure.
Considering her poor financial background, Mr Karunanidhi also sanctioned Rs 1.5 lakh from the Relief Fund to be deposited in Ms Kamaladevi's name, an official release here said.
The amount would be deposited with the Tamil Nadu Power Finance Corporation. From the interest, Ms Kamaladevi would be paid Rs 1,000 a month.
