Body of kidnapped girl found after 5 days in Meghalaya

Shillong, Jul 29 (UNI) Meghalaya police today recovered the body of a 20-year-old girl, who went missing for the past five days.

The body was found hanging in a furniture shop at Mawlai Mawdatbaki, a city suburb, police said.

Today's incident comes after the sensational murder of 25-year-old Darihun Lyngwi, whose body was also found in Mawlai.

The missing girl, identified as Istralin Kharbani, working at a tea shop nearby, had gone missing since July 24 and was seen with a person near Mawlai Polytechnic on Monday last.

According to police investigation, the owner of the shop are flabbergasted as to how Istralin managed to get inside the shop as it was locked from outside.

Police said they were investigating the case to ascertain whether the girl was murdered or she had committed suicide.

The police were yet to find the murderers of Darihun, although they have arrested two suspects and investigation into the case was still in progress.
