1 killed, 5 seriously injured in mishap
Madurai, July 29 (UNI) One person was killed on the spot and five others were seriously injured in a multiple-collision of vehicles damaging a lorry and a State transport corporation bus at Paraipatti village, near here today.
Police sources said the mishap occurred when the driver of a car attempted to overtake a lorry. The lorry dashed against the rear side of the car and collided head on with a State transport corporation bus coming from the opposite direction.
B Nagendran, the driver of the car was killed on the spot. Due to the impact of the collision, the diesel tank of the lorry burst into flames, destroying both the lorry and the bus. Except five passengers of the bus, the others had a miraculous escape.
Before the fire tenders could arrive, both the vehicles were destroyed in the fire.
Five injured passengers of the bus were admitted to the Government Rajaji Hospital, here.
