Union Govt to provide facilities to Grameen Dak Sevaks: Official
Hyderabad, Jul 28 (UNI) The Union Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has decided to improve the working conditions of the Grameen Dak Sevaks and create necessary infrastructure to improve postal business in the country.
Addressing the press here today, Chief Postmaster-General Andhra Circle Yesodhara Menon said Union Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology Jyotiraditya Madhavarao Scindia had taken initiatives to provide some infrastructure to the Grameen Dak Sevaks after listening to their operational problems and difficulties.
The department would install fans in offices being manned by Grameen Dak Sevaks and ensure regular supply of stationery to all the offices.
Branch post offices were being supplied with infrastructural equipment to enhance their working conditions, she added.
For revenue generation, the Finance Minister had been asked to increase the rate of interest applicable on the postal savings schemes and introduce loan against deposits scheme with respect to post office saving bank schemes.
Regarding the welfare, it has been decided there would be no transfer of Grameen Dak Sevaks unless and until requested for and all the cases of appointments on compassionate grounds would be processed expeditiously, she said.
She said the Ministry of Human Resources Development had been requested to consider the possibility of allowing admission to wards of the Grameen Dak Sevaks in Kendriya Vidyalayas of the country on a par with the other Defence and Central Government employees.
